Lace Pattern Stitch
(multiple of 6 stitches):
Row 1 (RS): *K1 yo ssk; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2 and all even rows: purl
Row 3: *K2 yo ssk k2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 5: *K3 yo,ssk, k1; rep from * to end of row.
Important Notes
To measure the length of a piece as youre working, count rows and refer to the gauge, since the fabric changes radically with blocking.
When working increases or decreases, work the Lace Pattern St only on full 6-st repeats. If you have fewer than 6 sts, work them in stocking stitch.
Back
Cast on 93 (105, 111, 123) sts. Place markers after first & before last st on the needle. Work 3 rows k1, p1 ribbing, decreasing 1 st in the center of the final row. 92 (104, 110, 122) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, work row 1 of Lace Pattern St between markers, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 3: K1, work row 3 of Lace Pattern St between markers, k1
Row 5: K1, work row 5 of Lace Pattern St between markers, k1.
Continue in pattern as established, working Lace Pattern St between markers & working first & last sts of the row in st st. Work until piece measures 14 (15, 16, 16.5) from beg, ending with a WS row. See Note above about measuring the piece.
Cast off 4 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at beg of following 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of the row on every RS row 5 (5, 6, 7) times to 68 (80, 80, 88) sts.
Work even until armhole measures 7 (7.5, 7.75, 8.5). Cast off 6 (8, 8, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 5 (7, 7, 8) sts at beg of following 2 rows. Cast off 5 (7, 7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off remaining 36 (36, 36, 40) sts.
Front
Work as for back until piece measures 10 (10.5, 10.75, 11.25), ending with a WS row.
Right Front neck shaping: Work first 45 (51, 55, 61) sts in patt, cast off next 2 sts, work to end in patt. Place the first 45 (51, 55, 61) stson a holder for Left Front neck, to be worked later.
Cont in pattern on the remaining 45 (51, 55, 61) sts for the Right Front, dec 1 st at neck edge every 4th row 17 (17, 17, 19) times. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 14 (15, 16, 16.5) from beg, work armhole shaping as for Back. Once shapings are complete & 16 (22, 22, 24) sts remain, work even until armhole measures 7 (7.5, 7.75, 8.5), ending with a WS row. Cast off 6 (8, 8, 8) sts at beg of next WS row, cast off 5 (7, 7, 8) sts at beg of following WS row, & cast off final 5 (7, 7, 8) sts at beg following WS row.
Work Left Front as for Right, reversing shapings.
Sleeves
Cast on 45 (51, 51, 57) sts. Place markers & work 3 rows of ribbing as for Back, dec 1 st in centre of final row. Work Lace Pattern St rows as for Back, inc 1 st at each end of 6th & every following 6th row 14 (11, 11, 8) times, & then every 8th row 3 (6, 6, 10) times, to 80 (86, 86, 94) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 18 (18.5, 19, 20) from beg.
Cast off 4 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at beg of following 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every RS row 12(12, 14, 16) times. Cast off 4 (4, 3, 3) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 4 (4, 2, 3) at beg of following 2 rows. Cast off 3 (3, 2, 2) at beg of following 2 rows. Cast off 0 (3, 0, 0) at beg of following two rows. Cast off final 20 (20, 26, 26) sts.
Front Left Collar
Cast on 11 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, p1 k1 p1, work Lace Pattern St to final st, place marker, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl to last 4 sts, (k1 p1) twice.
Row 3: Sl 1, p1 k1 p1, work Lace Pattern Stitch to marker, knit to end.
Continue as established, inc 1 st after the marker every 6th (4th, 4th, 4th) RS row 12 (18, 18, 24) times. Work these increased sts in st st until you have added 6 sts, at which point reposition the marker & add another repeat of the Lace Pattern Stitch. 23 (29, 29, 35) sts.
Work even until piece measures same length as Front from neck opening to top of shoulder shaping. Note which Lace Pattern Stitch row you end on. Place sts on a holder.
Front Right Collar
Cast on 11 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, place marker, work 6 sts in Lace Pattern St, (p1 k1) twice.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Sl 1, k1, p1, k1, purl to end.
Row 3: Knit to marker, work Lace Pattern St to last 4 sts, (p1 k1) twice.
Work as for Front Left Collar, working the inc
before the marker. Ensure you finish on the same Lace Pattern Stitch Row as for Front Right. Place sts on a holder.

Row 1 (RS): K1, place marker, work 6 sts in Lace Pattern St, (p1 k1) twice.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Sl 1, k1, p1, k1, purl to end.
Row 3: Knit to marker, work Lace Pattern St to last 4 sts, (p1 k1) twice.
Finishing & Collar With
Block all pieces to measurements. Sew shoulder seams.
Row 1 and all WS rows: Sl 1, k1 p1 k1, purl to last 4 sts, (k1 p1) twice.
Row 2: Sl 1, p1, k1 p1, work Lace Pattern St to last 4 sts, (p1 k1) twice
. Important: restart Lace Pattern Stitch where you left off when you worked the Front Collar pieces.
Cont as established until Collar measures 10 (10.5, 11, 11.5) from back neck opening, ending with a RS row. Work 1 final WS row, inc 1 st in the centre. Work 3 rows k,1 p1 ribbing as set by edge sts. Cast off loosely.
Sew Collar Fronts to Front along neck edges, ensuring lower edge of Front Collar pieces line up with neck opening. Set in sleeves. Sew side & sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
