Hunter's Toque

MATERIALS:
One 4oz skein Briggs & Little Blaze Orange
1 set 4.5 mm double-pointed needles
1 set 5 mm double-pointed needles
1 wool needle

TWINED KNITTING
is accomplished by using two strands of the same yarn as follows:
K1 with strand A, K1 with strand B, * K1 with strand A, K1 with strand B ; rep from* across row.
Twined knitting gives the garment a more dense fabric and is more wind-proof.

Tension:
In twined knitting, 18sts to 1O cm (4 ") on 5mm needles.

Using smaller needles, cast on 90sts, dividing sts equally among needles. Join in round and work k1, p1 ribbing for 4". Change to larger needles and twined knitting, joining the second strand of Blaze Orange at this point. Work 6" Twined Knitting.

1st Decrease Row: Break off second strand of yarn. Continuing with one strand, k2tog around - 45sts remain.
2nd Decrease Row: k2tog around, k1 - 23sts.
3rd Decrease Row: k2tog around, k 1 - 1 2sts
Work 2 rows even
4th Decrease Row: K2tog around. Break off yarn, leaving a tail of 6".

TO MAKE UP:
Using the wool needle, pass 6" tail through remaining sts on needles and pull tight, fastening end securely. Weave in ends.
