Wool Trends Shetland Chunky - Divine Afghan
A fast and fabulous fluffy afghan knit quickly on big needles with 3 strands of yarn held together. Approx. 48" (122 cm) x 60" (152.5 cm). Made in Patons Shetland Chunky and Patons Divine. 15mm (US 19) circular needle 36" (90 cm) long.
MEASUREMENTS: Approx 48 ins [122 cm] wide x 60 ins [152.5 cm] long.
MATERIALS
Patons Shetland Chunky (100 g/3.5 oz)
High Plains Variegated (03609) 4 balls
and Patons Divine (100 g/3.5 oz)
Soft Earth (06011) 4 balls
Deep Earth (06013) 4 balls
Size 15 mm (U.S. 19) circular knitting needle 36 ins [90 cm] long or size needed to obtain tension.
TENSION
6 sts and 9 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st using 3 strands of yarn together.
INSTRUCTIONS
With 3 strands of yarn together, cast on 60 sts.
Working back and forth across needle in rows: Knit 5 rows (garter stitch), noting 1st row is WS.
Next row: (RS). Knit
Next row: K3. Purl to last 3 sts. K3.
Rep last 2 rows for stocking st until Afghan measures 59 ins [150 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Knit 5 rows. Cast off.
Tassel: (make 4)
Cut a piece of cardboard 5 ins [12.5 cm] wide. Wind all 3 strands of yarn around cardboard 8 times. Break yarn, leaving a long end and thread through a tapestry needle. Slip needle through all loops on the cardboard and tie tightly at one end. Slip off cardboard and wind yarn several times around the loops ¾ inch [2 cm] below fold. Draw needle through top and sew tassel in position. Cut through other fold and trim evenly.
