“Double knit” and “Double-ball knitting” are traditional Newfoundland terms for stranded colour work. The knitted product is extra warm and often have designs, like the "Labrador Diamond" motif shown here, that add extra colour.
This is an advanced knitting class. It's a great way to learn the double knitting technique for mittens and accessories found in the Saltwater Knitting book series. Students will learn aabout the structure of a mitten, how to "double knit" with contrasting colours, increasing and decreasing and more.
