About us

Welcome to Wool Trends

Wool Trends is St. John’s biggest little yarn shop with more square footage and stock than any other local yarn store; inspiring knitters, crocheters, and crafters of all ages. Our in-store and online shop carries your favourite yarns, needles, and tools to create something special.

We know there’s no feeling quite like finishing a project or mastering a new stitch, which is why we’re always available to connect the threads between our customers and their latest work.

Knit One, Purl Two

Founded in 1996, on Hamilton Avenue in St. John’s by Hazel Abbott, created Wool Trends. A place where knitters, crocheters, and crafters could discover new fibres, materials, and tools to create projects they could only dream of.

Deidre Vey and Jacob Brennan saw the potential and inspiration in Hazel’s dream and bought the business in 2018, adding classes, nation-wide online sales, and expanding the product offerings.

We now offer something for everyone, from locally-dyed yarns and hand-made tools from Newfoundland and Labrador, to acrylic and traditional knits, and other fibre-related items.

Get Inspired, Create Something New

Wool Trends is a family-run business designed to serve the community of local makers, but also to inspire new people to take up the handicraft across generations and genders. Whether you’re knitting a gift, creating fine art with fibre, or learning a new past-time, get in touch with Wool Trends to discover the easternmost yarn store in North America.
